Where I’m going
Projects and concepts I am cooking on and you can get an early look at.
The Thesis
For years, I would bring my son to art museums and galleries. After years of continually saying “DON’T TOUCH THE ART,” this phrase stopped me in my tracks while in a gallery. Why am I keeping my child from experiencing art in the way he wants to? At that moment “TOUCH THE ART” was born, and I have been working toward this mantra to create art that can be interacted with in my own style of 3D collage.
Upcoming series
Filthy Fiat is an art project by Coldie that transforms U.S. dollar bills he buried — and that were destroyed by mold — into a commentary on the fragility and debasement of fiat currency.
In 2020, living in a wildfire-prone mountain town, Coldie buried a box that held two hundred one-dollar bills. Two years later he exhumed it to find the cash had fused into a solid brick of mold — unspendable. Those same buried bills form the facial features of the Christie’s piece Warren Buffett — Filthy Fiat.
